One of the most frustrating parts of having a gluten allergy is that it can often get in the way of having fun. This is very frustrating because the hot toddy season is my favorite season. Fortunately, there are some gluten-free whiskeys out there.
Is whiskey gluten free?
Both Scotch and Irish whiskey are made from 100% malted barley, as is Japanese whiskey, which is based on Scotch whiskey. Rye whiskey is made from a blend of at least 51% rye, usually corn making up the remaining mash.Although it is considered rye, it is usually much less rye and more corn canadian whiskey than American whiskey.

Is rum gluten free?
Rum is made from sugar cane, specifically molasses, which makes all rums naturally gluten-free. As long as you don’t choose a specific flavor, most rum brands are safe choices for those with gluten sensitivities.
my choice: Bacardi Premium. Bacardi has confirmed that all of their products are gluten free except Bacardi Silver. If dark rum is your thing, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum is also certified gluten-free.

Is Tequila Gluten Free?
Since it’s made from tequila, most tequila is gluten free, but watch out for the cheap stuff, it’ll give you no matter the gluten Hangover is similar to #4 on this list.

Is vodka gluten free?
Traditional vodka from the Old Country is naturally gluten-free because it is distilled from potatoes. Today, however, vodka is sometimes made from other ingredients that contain gluten, such as rye and barley. Today’s mainstream gluten-free vodka brands are made from corn, potatoes, and rice.
my choice: My favorite, although slightly less popular, is Tito’s Vodka Made entirely of corn. Smirnoff products labeled gluten-free, but they are made from rye with the gluten removed. Avoid it if you are very sensitive – especially to certain flavors. Smirnoff Ice is gluten free. I wish I knew this when I was “freezing”. That would be a terrific get out of jail card.
Best Gluten Free Gin Brands
Is gin gluten free?
Like vodka, gin used to be considered a gluten-free spirit because it was made from juniper berries. But today, many modern brands use a base alcohol made from gluten-containing grains, then add juniper and botanicals during the distillation process. For example, Bombay Sapphire is made from wheat and rye. However, since it is removed during the distillation process, they consider their products gluten-free.
Gin is one of the gluten-free alcoholic beverages, and you need to be aware of your sensitivities. Some celiacs who are prone to reactions even when the protein is removed during distillation should steer clear of most gins.
my choice: A Hendricks The G&T Cucumber Cocktail is one of the most delightful cocktails on the planet. It’s also common abroad, so if you don’t know how to say “Is this gluten-free?”, this is a good choice. In French. It’s considered safe by celiac disease groups, even though it’s made from some rye.
