GermanyOf the Olympic football team walked off the pitch in their friendly match Honduras On Saturday, defender Jordan Torunarigha was accused of racial discrimination.
The Germans will face Honduras as they continue to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics this month. The match lasted three-thirds of 30 minutes.
After Torunarigha was accused of racial discrimination, the game stopped with five minutes left and they drew 1-1.
The German national team wrote on Twitter: “The game ended 5 minutes early and the score was 1-1. After Jordan Torunariga was racially discriminated against, the German players left the stadium.”
Coach Stefan Kunz said after the game: “When one of our players is racially discriminated against, continuing to play is not an option.”
This game is the last practice match of the German team before the start of the Olympic Games on July 22.
Torunarigha is 23 years old and currently plays for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga. He has been capped by the German team in the youth team, but has not yet completed his adult team debut for the team.
