The impact of the pandemic on Chinatown restaurants

Sitting in a restaurant is a very relaxing time-from the moment the waiter asks you how many people are at the party to when you walk up to the front with a full stomach to check out. As the Covid-19 epidemic slowed, many restaurants have reopened to people with vaccination cards, but they have all made some minor changes to ensure everyone’s safety.

Honey Garden

Sales of Honey Court Restaurant have been slow in November, but business has grown slowly since the peak of the pandemic. Before the vaccination card was needed, Honey Court launched a large bottle of hand sanitizer for customers to use, but over time, people began to steal hand sanitizer bottles.

Purple Dot Cafe

One object that stands out in the Purple Dot Cafe is the fusion of temperature and hand disinfection. This unique device completes two safety measures at once. Other requirements include masks and vaccination certificates. Even with restrictions, Purple Dot Cafe still operates at approximately 50% of its capacity.

Chun chun rice dog

The rice dogs in Chinatown are as popular as ever, and the queues go far beyond the shops. The area inside the building is too small, so Chunchun changed his etiquette: place an order inside, wait outside. In the restaurant, the cashier and the customer are separated by a plastic barrier, which is another layer of protection besides the mask. In order to protect people, the cost is shorter and the frequency of interaction is lower.

Fuji Bakery

The inside of Fuji Bakery is not what it used to be. What used to be a small cafe on the corner of the street has now become a small window on the side of King Street, where you can take orders. Looking inside, there used to be piles of baked goods where people sat, and many staff recalled how much they liked to serve customers inside.

Chengdu Memory

Most of us know the general things that restaurants do—vaccine card checks, social distancing signs, and extra cleaning. Chengdu’s memory goes even further: using disposable plates and cutlery.

Best Tea in Seattle

Seattle Best Tea has also taken many similar measures to ensure the safety of customers, such as moving the customer waiting line outside, but they also reflected the impact on their business. In addition to vaccinating employees and wearing masks throughout the process, Seattle Jiacha also had to lay off employees. 
