MonzaIt has been home to the Italian Grand Prix since 1922 and is one of the fastest circuits in the world Motorsport.
It has high-speed corners and long straights, making it an ideal track for sprint competitions.
The 100-kilometer sprint held is a new way to determine the starting line for Sunday’s race. It takes place on Saturday and replaces the traditional three-stage qualifying that will be held on Friday.
The purpose is to make fans more excited in these three days of competition.
The lap of Monza is 5.793 kilometers, so the sprint is expected to be 18 laps.
Not everyone is attracted by the idea of a sprint race. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen described this concept as “strange”, even though he won pole position for it.
“I think pole position should still be obtained in a fast lap. This is a suitable pole position for me.”
Ross Brown, general manager of Formula One motorsport, admitted that this “may be something we need to consider.”
“We will discuss things like this with the FIA and the team, but I don’t think we can be hindered by history,” Brown said.
“I mean, we need to respect history, but we must not be hindered by history.”
