Zahra Ehsani thought she was “lucky” in many ways after accepting her first time Saskatchewan Rider The game last weekend.

“A friend of mine who has a season ticket invited me to come here. I’m very excited, but I don’t know anything about Canadian football because it is not common in my country. Actually…we are in my country. Football,” Esani said.
“When I went to this stadium, I saw a huge stadium with many fans. You can see everyone here to watch the game. You have the opportunity to come here with your family and children.”
On September 5, in front of 32,975 fans, the defending champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers surrendered their first defeat in the 2021 season with a score of 23-8.
“Winnipeg won, but I want to say that I am one of the fans of Riders. Although they can’t win, I am proud of them,” Ehsani said.
“Unfortunately, they did not perform well in this game, but I love them.”
The Regina resident said that since coming to Canada in 2019, she cherishes these opportunities and considers herself one of the lucky ones—especially after losing her left leg as a child.
“I am 9 years old (years old) and when I came back from that college one day, I was studying English. I had an (car accident) accident and my knee was broken. Two months later the doctor told me that I had bone cancer, and he told me My parents I will die in a month,” Ehsani said.
“Fortunately, I survived. Those days were very difficult. I had to undergo chemotherapy. I lost a leg. I had to deal with my prosthesis… It was too difficult for me and my parents. But luckily, I’m so strong, and I’m an excellent fighter.
“I’m very lucky because the doctor told me that the car accident showed cancer earlier, so maybe I have a chance to start chemotherapy sooner…I am very grateful. In fact, I have worked hard all my life. I just want to turn bad things into good things.”
Ehsani is pursuing her second master’s degree through the Industrial Systems Engineering program at the University of Regina. Although she started learning CFL football 11 days ago, Ehsani said she has been a lifelong fan of the Cavaliers.
“Yes! … I bought a T-shirt and a hat, and I am ready to go to the stadium to watch all these games!” she said.
On Saturday, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg will face each other again in the Banjo Bowl.
