best life hacks
meal prep
Meal planning and prep are the most popular. Many people believe that planning and meal prepping for the week can go a long way in eliminating midweek stress when our schedules are at their busiest. Whether packing a lunch the night before the next workday with a programmable coffee maker, or making a double-batch dinner recipe so you can freeze it for lunch or another dinner later when you’re not ready to cook .
5 minutes to clean up
We often designate one day a week to do all the cleaning in our house and it just creates stress and overwhelm. Not to mention that with kids and other responsibilities it’s impossible to spend an entire day cleaning. There are just too many tasks to keep up with—from laundry to vacuuming to cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, the list goes on.
Do a little every day and save yourself some time and energy. A friend of mine spends 5 minutes a day cleaning the bathroom after the shower and cleaning the kitchen after every meal so dirt, grime, and dust don’t build up over time and take hours of work. Over the course of a week, her 5 minutes a day adds up to an hour or more, making her big deep cleans unnecessary or more manageable and manageable.
“Do monthly things like changing the air filter, cleaning the dishwasher, washing machine, stove, etc., one day at the end of the month.”
-Leslie
clean up after sleep
My husband and I started doing a bedtime cleanse and it has been super helpful. After putting our son to bed, one of us does the kitchen and the other the living room, or we do it as a team. In the living room we put away toys and arrange laundry, blankets, pillows, etc., as well as wash dishes, load/empty dishwasher and wipe down tables. This cleanup only takes 10-20 minutes and it always makes me feel so much better, relaxing on the couch and knowing everything is neat and clean.
order groceries online
Ordering groceries online for delivery/pickup is another favorite. I only started ordering and pickup online last month and I don’t know why I didn’t use this service sooner! I’ve saved a ton on groceries this past month, not to mention time and energy. I prepare meals and place orders on Thursday night and pick them up Friday morning. It’s so nice going into the weekend knowing we’re getting ready for the groceries and that I don’t have to give up the dreaded weekend morning grocery store trip. Doing this online has helped me get only the essentials and not trying to grab things off the shelf that we don’t need. I 100% recommend order and pickup, especially with little ones, it makes your life so much easier.
sunday party
My husband and I have recently started attending Sunday meetings, which is another great way to get us going into the week feeling confident and prepared. Several of my friends also do it with their partners, and it seems to be a generally useful weekly routine. During our meetings, we look at the calendar for the week, we plan daycare pickup and drop-offs, and we discuss meetings, responsibilities, and events. It also helps with meal prep and easy dinner planning for busy days.
Reserve Cards, Gift Wrap, and Gifts
We have a box of gift bags, wrapping paper and tissues that can be reused as gifts when events happen. It was nice not having to go to the store to buy gift bags and wrapping paper on the day of the event. One community member said she stocked up on greeting cards and gifts for planned and unplanned gift-giving.
Use Reminders and Notes on your phone
“I often use the reminder function on my phone to outsource things that I might miss when life gets busy: paying rent, sending birthday cards, picking up dry cleaning.”
– Rebecca
“I use my notes app to keep track of ideas, ideas and my CRL links. I have a lot of notes, lol, but I’m so forgetful, this helps me remember/remind myself to have it in my head throughout the day Everything that flashes through.”
– Jess
Another friend of mine organizes all of her favorite recipes in a notes app. This makes it easy to grab at the grocery store or while cooking, and always easy to share with friends!
Use charts to organize family schedules
“My 7-year-old has daily chores and homework charts, which means I don’t have to remember what homework is due each day. Everything goes on the family calendar in the kitchen. If it’s not there, then it’s not going to happen. ”
-Benevolence
no dogs in the bedroom
“The dog (which we love so much but doesn’t shed) isn’t allowed upstairs so I’m just left fighting the hair in the downstairs room.”
-Benevolence
“No dog in the bedroom (I know I’ve done a 180!) but the amount of hair and cleaning has been greatly reduced and there are no ticks, disgusting”
– Jess
Travel from Saturday to Saturday
“Personal travel Saturday to Saturday, so you have Sunday to recover and Friday night to get ready.”
– Emily
