Thousands of protesters will take to the streets Glasgow London And other cities in the UK and around the world demand action on climate change.

An important UN summit will be held in Glasgow, and approximately 50,000 people are expected to march in the city centre as part of the Cop26 Alliance’s Global Climate Justice Action Day.

Organizers said that demonstrators will also appear on the streets of central London, as well as 200 events held in the UK and around the world.

The parade was held after thousands of youth activists, including Greta Sandberg Vanessa Nakate marched in Glasgow on Friday to protest investment in fossil fuels and failure to resolve the climate crisis.

Ms. Thunberg called the Cop26 conference “a global northern green drifting festival, a two-week celebration, business as usual, etc.”.

But the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for Climate Issues John Kerry Zeng said that the Cop26 talks were more urgent and focused than ever before-although he said he was “frustrated” by the pace of climate action and warned that “work was not done” at the meeting.

The latest demonstration took place midway through the Cop26 summit. About 120 leaders gathered in Glasgow to formulate the actions they are taking and pledge to curb deforestation, phase out coal, end foreign funding of fossil fuels, and reduce methane emissions .

However, there is still a huge gap between the measures that countries have promised and those needed to avoid warming above 1.5 degrees Celsius, beyond which the worst floods, droughts, storms and rising climate change sea levels will be felt.

As a result, countries are under pressure to agree to a process of raising ambitions over the next decade, as well as to provide funding for developing countries to deal with the crisis, and to finalize the final part of how the Paris Agreement on global climate change will work.

As the protests progress, Cop26 negotiations continue, and Saturday’s meeting will also focus on the role of nature, land use and agriculture in tackling climate change.
