Three Iranian policemen killed in a week of violence-report

During the IAEA meeting, the Iranian flag appeared outside the IAEA headquarters.

Tasnim News Agency said on Saturday that three Iranian policemen were killed this week, bringing the number of policemen killed in reported violence during the same period to six.

According to Tasnim, a captain was killed on Friday in a raid on an “armed robber base” in the southwestern Khuzestan province.

The news agency said that one day ago, another policeman was injured and died during a clash with “armed thugs” in the central Isfahan province.

According to Tasnim, another policeman was run over by a vehicle transporting smuggled fuel in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan on Wednesday.

The province borders Pakistan and is a flashpoint for conflicts between security forces and armed groups.

Conflicts usually involve smuggling groups and separatists from Balochistan minorities or radical extremist organizations.

On Wednesday, the state news agency IRNA said that three policemen, including a colonel, were killed in clashes with armed groups also in Sistan-Baluchstan, and six others were injured.

It said that at least two members of the armed group were killed in the violence that lasted nearly 24 hours.
