Thriving in a changing world

Marketing Podcast with April Rinne

In this episode Tape Marketing Podcast, I interviewed April Rinne.April is a The Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and was named “50 leading female futurists“In the Forbes Global Ranking. She helps individuals and organizations rethink and reshape their relationship with the changing, uncertain, and ever-changing world. She published a new book this year, titled– Flux: 8 superpowers that flourish in constant change.

Key points:

Adaptability and flexibility have always been the hallmarks of effective leadership and a fulfilling life. But in a constantly changing world, flexibility and resilience can extend to and beyond their critical points. The pursuit of life becomes how to find peace and lasting meaning in the lasting chaos.

In this episode, April Rinne talks about her new book Flux And 8 powerful changes in the way of thinking, so that people of all ages can thrive in an era of unprecedented change and uncertainty. These eight superpowers enable people to see change in new ways, formulate new responses, and reshape their relationships to change from the inside out.

Questions I asked April Rinne:

  • [1:26] In this moment, would you say that people have established new relationships with changes?
  • [1:43] Why are we so resistant to change?
  • [2:55] We have just conducted a huge experiment of large-scale change for many people. Some people respond to change and rush towards innovation. Even if it is not the change we selected, would you say that the change has positive elements?
  • [5:22] Do you advocate that we must truly go out and seek change and make changes, instead of letting it happen to us?
  • [9:54] Can you talk about the two concepts you covered-flux baseline and flux deficit?
  • [12:11] Seeing the value in change is valuable. Would you say that if you come to a place that has such a relationship with change, you may still struggle when it strikes you, but you will also see the value and the message it conveys?
  • [14:18] Will calling your book a change management book cause harm?
  • [16:32] Your book has a framework of eight superpowers. When I studied it, one of the things that impressed me at first was that you have all the elements I call mindfulness, not just intentions. Do you say it works?
  • [18:01] I will ask you to talk about a superpower that is a bit prominent. This is the philosophy of the portfolio career. Can you talk more?
  • [21:55] Can the culture or organization have the capacity for flux?
  • [23:36] Where can people find more information about Flux and where can they contact you?
