This beef and broccoli recipe is keto friendly. But if you’re eating it from a restaurant, or using a traditional recipe, it’s not ketogenic. Cornstarch and sugar are commonly found in beef and broccoli recipes, and they quickly add to many carbohydrates.

Sauce:
For stir fry:
- olive oil – or avocado oil.
- broccoli – For convenience, buy fresh broccoli heads or broccoli florets.
- garlic – use fresh cloves or canned garlic For convenience.
- flank steak – You can also swap it out for other cuts of beef, like skirt steak or flat iron steak.
Decoration options:
This dish is already tasty and colorful enough to need no garnish, but if you like, you can add:
- sesame oil -Add this at the end for extra flavor.

How to Make Tomato Beef and Broccoli
This section shows how to make a keto recipe for beef and broccoli with step-by-step photos and details on the technique. See the recipe card below for full instructions.
- Beef slices. Slice the flank steak as thinly as possible.
Tip: Freeze the beef for a short period of time to make it easier to slice.
Putting the flank steak in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before slicing will make it firmer and help you slice it thinner. The thinner the better!
- Mix the marinade. In a small bowl, whisk together coconut aminos, fish sauce, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Corned beef. Transfer 2 tablespoons of the marinade (which will also be the saute sauce) to a large bowl and toss with the olive oil. Marinate the beef for at least 30 minutes.


- Stir fry steak. Heat olive oil in a wok or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook for a few minutes until browned. Transfer beef to a bowl and cover to keep warm.
Tip: Don’t move the steak too much.
This will help it get a good imprint.
- Fried broccoli. Heat more olive oil over medium heat and add the broccoli. Cover and cook until tender. Add the broccoli to a bowl with the beef.
Tip: You can steam broccoli if desired.
If the broccoli cannot be simply sautéed, you can add a few tablespoons of water, cover and cook for a few minutes to steam. If you do, make sure to drain any remaining water afterwards.


- Bloom Gelatin. Whisk chicken stock and gelatin into a small bowl until smooth.
- Fried garlic. Heat the pan over medium heat again and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Make the sauce. Pour the sauce mixture into the pot and bring to a simmer. Stir occasionally until the mixture starts to thicken.

Storage Instructions
- Shop: Store remaining beef and broccoli in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Transfer 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of coconut aminos mixture to a large bowl – this will be the marinade. Stir in a tablespoon of olive oil.

Place beef in large bowl with marinade and coat.refrigeration 30 minutes.

Heat 1 tablespoon (15 mL) olive oil in a pan wok Or use a wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and fry for a few minutes until browned. Remove the beef, place it in a bowl, and cover to keep warm.

Heat another tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add broccoli.Cover and cook 8 to 12 minutesJust flip the lid and stir occasionally until crisp and tender.

Remove the broccoli, place it in a bowl with the beef, and cover to keep warm.

Stir chicken stock and gelatin into reserved marinade/sauce in small bowl until smooth. (To prevent clumping, sprinkle the gelatin on top instead of pouring it right in, then stir immediately.)

Heat the pan over medium heat again. If the pan is dry, add more oil as needed. Add the garlic and sauté for a minute or so, until fragrant.

Pour the sauce mixture into the pot and bring to a simmer.Simmer, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutesuntil the volume decreases and begins to thicken.

Add the beef and broccoli to the pot and toss to combine. Sauté for another minute or two, until hot.
