To end the year in style, Airbnb announced the top travel places and Airbnb accommodation categories for 2022, and gave users a sneak peek at what 2023 might look like.
For vacations in the tropics or lounging by the pool, 2022 is the most likely year to spot Pinoy Airbnb visitors. The most popular vacation rental categories among Filipinos were the tropical and stunning pool categories, with national parks, golf, lake houses, beachfront and surfing in second and third, respectively.
2022 Favorite Travel Destinations
2022 has seen unprecedented travel enthusiasm, especially as borders around the world begin to reopen. Notably, according to Airbnb data, Singaporeans accounted for the majority of the influx of foreign tourists to the Philippines this year. According to the latest data, the main source cities for tourists to the Philippines in 2022 are Singapore, Seoul, Los Angeles, London and Sydney.
Top tourist attractions in 2023
Filipinos are undoubtedly looking forward to using their passports in 2023. According to Airbnb research, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand and South Korea are expected to be the top foreign travel destinations for Filipino tourists in 2023.
However, domestic travel remains a top priority for Filipinos, with Baguio in the north, Pasay and Mandaluyong in Metro Manila the top domestic travel destinations in 2023, along with El Ni on Palawan Island and Coron, Cebu City and Lapu Cebu City.
This presents a special opportunity for Filipinos to cash in on increased travel as Christmas approaches, earning some extra money and possibly even paying for trips to popular destinations.
