The National Hurricane Center said that Tropical Storm Mindy formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, threatening the northwest coast of Florida.
The Miami-based organization said that the storm was 150 kilometers west-southwest of Apalachicola on Wednesday night and is expected to make landfall in the southern U.S. state on Wednesday night.

NHC stated that Mindy is moving to the northeast at a speed of approximately 35 km/h, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 65 km/h, and it is expected to maintain the route in the next few days.
The center of the storm will pass through the Florida panhandle on Wednesday night, which borders Alabama and Georgia.
The NHC issued a tropical storm warning for the area’s coastline between Mexico’s Beach City and the Steinhatchee River.
According to the National Hurricane Center, heavy rain is expected in the Panhandle and southern Georgia and South Carolina, which is expected to continue until Thursday morning.
