U.S. concerns about the spread of Delta variants intensify

The highly contagious Delta variant continues to spread in the United States and around the world because it has become the main strain of the virus.

The Delta variant caused a surge in cases. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Friday that there are more than 100,000 cases a day, the highest number since February.

A medical expert tell us “Even young and healthy people, including pregnant women, are now beginning to crowd our hospitals.”

“It’s like a wildfire,” said Dr. Michelle Barron, senior medical director of infection prevention and control at UCHealth, Colorado.

By early June, the Delta variant, first discovered in India, accounted for more than 6% of all infections in the United States, and quickly became the main strain in the UK, causing more than 90% of infections and leading to a surge of COVID in parts of England.

On Friday, the New York Times cited an internal CDC document stating that the Delta variant was “more contagious, more likely to break through the protection provided by the vaccine, and could cause more serious disease than all other known versions of the virus.”

According to the CDC, the Delta variant is as contagious as chickenpox and more contagious than the common cold or flu.

Associated Press Report 99% of COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths come from people who have not been vaccinated.

Vaccinated people who are infected with the virus will only have mild symptoms, but if the vaccinated person infects the virus to the unvaccinated person, the unvaccinated person may suffer serious health consequences.

Dr. Gregory Poland, an infectious disease expert at the Mayo Clinic, said: “We must be vaccinated and wear masks, otherwise we will endure another surge for the fourth time, and there will be more serious mutations.”

An expert pointed out that due to the spread of the Delta variant, more unvaccinated Americans may be inclined to vaccinate.

“People are realizing this,” Dr. Francis Collins, president of the National Institutes of Health, told CNN on Sunday. “If we want to put this Delta variant back in place, this is what urgently needs to happen, because now it is hosting a big party in the middle of the country.”

On Friday, the White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that there were 500,000 shootings that day, the highest daily record since July 1.
