Weekly Economics Podcast: Bridging the Covid-19 Vaccination Gap

Coronavirus cases in Europe and around the world are on the rise again. The World Health Organization says that countries should not give booster injections for the rest of this year, but in the UK, we provide third shots to young people under 40. At the same time, only 3% of people in low-income countries have a single dose.

The Covid vaccine may have avoided hundreds of thousands of deaths in the UK, but who would miss the global vaccine launch? Why can’t poorer countries get the Covid vaccine? How can we change the rules of the international economy to protect everyone during a pandemic?

For the final episode of the series, Ayeisha joined the author, researcher, and coordinator Achal Prabhala. Visit the IBSA project, And Saiorse Fitzpatrick, advocacy manager Stop AIDS.
