DThe hat is Olympia! After 26 hours, it felt like a Spartan adventure. Our flight was well behind us, and it was a bit dragged after landing. It took us nearly four hours to leave the airport. After so long, all the multi-page customs, quarantine and other declaration forms were filled out, checked and stamped, and various QR codes were loaded onto the mobile phone. Of course, we underwent a corona test at the airport.

When we arrived at the Olympic Village, we went straight to the booth. In fact, we have six German tennis players (Alexander Zverev, Jan Leonard Struff, Dominik Koepfer, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Kevin Krawietz and me) Our apartment! At first glance, something that sounds great is a challenge, and we accept it in a humorous way. We think that accommodating 6 people in a space of about 50 square meters is an interesting experiment. I really don’t want to be so close to my colleagues. They didn’t treat me either.
We are divided into two double rooms and two single rooms. There are two bathrooms, but there is no common room. Oh yes, there are also balconies, but you can’t stay on it because Tokyo is too hot and too hot. We have the courage to take risks and are not spoiled: but nailing a few nails on one wall of the bathroom to hang the toiletry bag will not be a luxury hassle. The concept of a Japanese interior designer can be said to be interesting: a shell structure with a floor. Furniture? purely! Bed, table, sink, toilet. We have received several posters today to relax the consistent whiteness of the exposed plasterboard walls.
The apartment did not detract from the great atmosphere between us. We are in Olympia-super cool, so life is fun. Let’s see what happens when we are there longer. We are still used to it. So far, we have only visited the Olympic Village, learned about the huge cafeteria, and trained three times.
It is said that the village can move around freely, but I still don’t know what it means. I really want to meet many other athletes. In any case, we have confirmed that we are not allowed to participate in any other competitions other than tennis matches, which will start on Saturday. So far, we seem to be powerless, and the organizers hope so. Our tennis team was told that between the daily corona test and 15 fever measurements, we should not stay together. As far as my old friend Struffi (Jan-Lennard Struff) is concerned, I cannot avoid it-we share a double room.
