The Wing Luke Museum received a $1 million grant from Bank of America to help with upcoming capital building renovations and security upgrades.
“It’s been more than a decade since we restored the East Kong Yick Building as the new home for the Wing Luke Museum,” said interim executive director Cassie Chinn. “Beyond basic building needs, the pandemic has changed the way we all live. Reality. We appreciate this funding that will help secure our future going forward.”
In addition to supporting museum projects, the grant will support technology platform enhancements and digital investments to drive collaboration with more than 100 people through food and heritage community tours, Japanese American Memorial tours, Redlining heritage tours, community music Collaborations/Festivals and Marketing with famous artists and 170+ small businesses.
“It’s great to have the Wing Luke Museum host a food tour because it brings new guests to our restaurant and part of CID. People don’t usually know CID has Japantown, it’s important that they provide exposure and history,” Mike Vu of Itsumono Restaurant in Seattle’s Japantown points out.
