It is expected that on the first day of opening, Patrick Harvey and Lorna Slater will be officially appointed as junior ministers. Scottish Government -The Green Party has held such a position for the first time anywhere in the UK.
Previously, members of these two organizations approved a cooperation agreement between two pro-independence parties this weekend.
Therefore, Mr. Harvie will become the Minister of Zero Carbon Building, Active Travel and Tenant Rights, and Ms. Slater-a renewable energy expert who became MSP in May-will serve as Minister of Green Skills, Circular Economy and Biodiversity.
Ms. Sturgeon stated that the “historical cooperation agreement” between the two parties is based on “the Scottish government’s joint efforts to build a greener, fairer and more independent Scotland”.
at the same time Single nucleotide polymorphism MSP Neil Gray said the deal may give the people of Scotland a chance to vote on independence again.
He said: “Our Scottish Parliament is based on the basic principles of joint effort and cooperation, and we should unite for Scotland’s future.
“As we recover from the pandemic, we can focus on creating good green jobs to support our just transition.
“We can build a social security system for the Scottish people, not against them. We can let the Scottish people choose their future in the independence referendum.”
But the Conservative Party of Scotland vowed to vote against the appointment of two Green Party co-leaders to government positions.
Tory Covid Recovery Spokesperson Murdo Fraser said: “During the biggest economic crisis of our life, Nicolas Sturgeon is turning to anti-employment and anti-business extremists. This is deeply worrying.
“The transfer of power to a green MSP that recognizes the desire to limit growth and hinder the Scottish economy is purely an act of economic destruction.”
He added: “Nicolas Sturgeon is taking people’s work for nationalist gambling. She is bringing in militants, all of which are to strengthen her push for another split referendum.
“Only the Scottish Conservative Party will stand up to challenge this divided, chaotic alliance and provide a real alternative to end the obsession with independence.”
