Women’s rugby star Vicky Fleetwood’s favorite things

Rise

Evel 3 personal trainer, fitness star and motivational speaker, international rugby player Vicky Fleetwood is used to leading the way.

From falling in love with the sport when she was young to helping England win the 2014 Rugby World Cup, she has always been a fierce and passionate spokesperson for the sport, working particularly hard to get more women into the stadium.

Fleetwood and many elite female athletes agree that the epidemic is disastrous for the development of women’s sports and highlights the high level of gender inequality that still prevails.

As the world lifts the blockade, better weather means more time for outdoor activities, we interviewed Saracen’s flanker-also known as Fleeto-to talk about health, fitness and how to turn girls into gladiators.

How do you stay refreshed in confinement?

I’m a person who likes to have a routine, so this is really helpful. I found it was relatively easy to lock in for the first time because the weather was good and the training went smoothly.

I was injured during the second lockout, and I found it more difficult, this time I just missed all the normal things, such as eating out! Locking 3.0 is of course the most difficult for me, but morning coffee and Netflix are both great choices.

After removing all restrictions, what is the first thing you need to do?

Seeing my friend is definitely in the forefront! I also like theaters, so I am happy when they can reopen.

What is your innocence pandemic purchase?

I have always been a big online shopper, buying some things that I don’t really need-I haven’t had a chance to wear a lot of clothes, so I look forward to wearing them all! During the pandemic, I also became obsessed with houseplants, and I think they may be my most innocent purchase, even though I have a lot of things now.

For most of the year, we sit there and watch Netflix. How can we start to improve our health?

The biggest part of exercising is to find what you like, so try many different exercises and active ways, and stick to the way you really like.

We all have to start somewhere, so if this is something you’ve never tried before, don’t worry, and set yourself small achievable goals to help stimulate motivation. Sometimes, it’s easier if you have friends or partners trying new things with you.

The best sports bra?

I like brightly colored straps, although for games I have to wear something more supportive and tend to go Nike.

You have been playing games. What are your travel essentials?

Goggles and earplugs are essential in flight! If we travel long distances, I always Sheet mask Also because my skin usually becomes dry due to air conditioning.

How to relax when not training?

I like food, so I go out for dinner, even make some special things at home, go for a walk, or find a series on TV that I really enter.

How can we encourage more girls to participate in this sport?

The contact surface of rugby discourages many girls. If this is the case, you can play the tag or touch. Otherwise, I would say just try the full contact game! You will learn how to cope and fall, and it will never be as scary as you think.

The great thing about the game is that everyone has their place and you can play to your advantage. The friendship and friendship that rugby brings is an important reason why I think more girls should try. This may be very different from anything they have tried before, who knows? They may like it.
