Automattic announced that Jetpack, used by over 5 million users, is now available as six separate plugins.
This allows users to choose the features they want without having to install the full suite of products.

Automattic is the for-profit side of WordPress. Although they are for-profit, most of their projects are available under the General Public License.
Jetpack is an all-in-one WordPress utility that works seamlessly together to bring security, backups, performance improvements, and other features to your WordPress site.
The beauty of Jetpack is that publishers can have multiple must-haves without having to worry about six different plugins that may or may not work well together. Anyone who has used a performance-enhancing cache plugin knows how tricky plugin conflicts can get.
However Jetpack’s strengths are also seen as its weaknesses, as not everyone needs an all-in-one plugin.

Jetpack is available as six plugins
Automattic has announced that Jetpack now has six different plugins for those who choose to function.
Automattic acknowledged the downsides of the all-in-one approach in its announcement:
“Many developers and website owners are asking for the flexibility to use specific components of Jetpack as part of their own custom plugin ‘tech stack’. We listened.
“The WordPress community is passionate about being able to control exactly what’s installed on their site,” said Jetpack CEO James Grierson. “The new Jetpack plugin will provide this flexibility and enhance the overall WordPress experience.”
Plugin Details
Some of these plugins are brand new, while others are available for a year or two.
- Four new plugins are free: Jetpack Protect, Boost, Social and CRM are completely free.
- Two of these plugins require payment: Jetpack Backup and Jetpack Search require paid plans.
The six WordPress plugins are:
jetpack backup
The plugin reached the version 1.0 milestone in October 2021. Not a brand new plugin. This is a website backup plugin that can backup themes, plugins and databases, including WooCommerce customer data. The plugin enables users to restore the website to any previous state, even if the website is offline.
jetpack protection
Provides website security by scanning plugins and themes on a daily basis to identify and provide warnings when there are vulnerabilities. The plugin uses the WPScan vulnerability library, which contains the latest list of WordPress vulnerabilities.
jetpack booster
This plugin reached the version 1.0 milestone in April 2021, so it’s not really brand new. The plugin improves website performance by generating critical CSS (loading only required CSS), delaying non-essential JavaScript, lazy loading modules that only load images that the user can see.
jetpack social
Social sharing management and scheduling center that allows to manage all social channels from one location.
Jetpack Search
Offers advanced features such as auto-prediction, auto-correct spelling, instant results, real-time indexing and other advanced features.
Jetpack Customer Relationship Management
This plugin was announced to be split from the main Jetpack, but it’s been available since 2020.It helps manage customers by admin portal, invoicing, billing system and more
Jetpack Original All-in-One
The original version of Jetpack remains unchanged for now. Ultimately, at some point in the future, some features that were spun out of standalone plugins will be removed from Jetpack, the announcement says, but it is guaranteed that adding them back in will not be a problem.
