WP Engine acquires the company behind ACF, WP Migrate & Better Search and Replace


Managed WordPress web hosting company WP Engine has announced that they are acquiring Delicious Brains, the company behind five popular plugins that millions of users around the world rely on.

The acquisition includes plugins that are very popular in the WordPress development community, including:

  • Advanced Custom Fields (ACF),
  • WP Migration,
  • better search and replace,
  • WP uninstall SES
  • WP Uninstall Media

What the acquisition means for the Delicious Brains plugin

Probably the biggest concern for plugin clients is change. WP Engine guarantees no breaking changes and they will continue to support their development and improvement.

All five Delicious Brains plugins will continue to be updated and compatible with future versions of WordPress. The development team will also remain the same, and the plugin will continue to be available in the current WordPress repository.

Their announcement said the acquisition was done in the spirit of their commitment to open source. WP Engine also stated that they will respect the lifetime license of the product.

“These plugins will remain free and in the repository, and we respect the lifetime license of the Pro version.

We’re hiring Delicious Brains folks who will continue to develop plugins.

As we do with other tools like Genesis and Local, WP Engine also plans to expand access to contributors and the wider WordPress community by providing meaningful opportunities for continued collaboration and ongoing maintenance and development of ACF, WP Migrate, and other builder tools support. is being acquired.

Initially, we will focus on the integration and follow the current roadmap through that integration. Our goal is to always make WP Engine provide more value to our customers, but it’s too early to share specifics. “

WP Engine also shared that their commitment to innovation and investment has made WP Engine a leader in building and modeling content for headless WordPress sites, highlighting the synergy between ACF and its Atlas Content Modeler (ACM).
