YouTube creators can now remix any video on the platform into a short film by extending green screen capabilities.
Previously, you could use the green screen to create Shorts with other short videos on YouTube.
Now you can take any video on YouTube and use it as a short video in the background.
With the green screen effect, you can overlay your footage on top of the background video.
This feature is often used as a way to react to other videos or provide comments.
Or it can be used in a comedic fashion. For example, you can take a famous clip and superimpose yourself on one of the characters.
There are now more options than ever to create creative short videos with green screen effects.

A YouTube representative said in the announcement:
“Green Screen is the newest way to remix with Shorts — building on Cut, which started last month. With Green Screen, you can use any eligible YouTube video or short clip as a backdrop for the original short.”
You can choose to use other YouTube videos with sound on or off.
To use a green screen, navigate to the video you want to use and select Create > Green Screen on the options menu below.
Alternatively, you can press the 3-dot menu in the Shorts player and select Green Screen.
The maximum length you can create is 60 seconds.
When their content is remixed into a short film, creators get full credit for the original video, a whole new way for them to grow their audience.
The only content that cannot be sampled is music videos and other videos visual proposition.
If you do not want your content to be used in the clip, you can opt out through the settings in YouTube Studio.
Green Screen has started to roll out gradually on the iOS YouTube app. It will be available to everyone on iOS and Android over the next few months.
