If you haven’t switched to an induction cooktop, let me convince you a little more to do so.
Gasoline prices are expected to soar, especially now with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Just recently, the news showed that LPG is now over PHP 1,000 per tank and is mostly used for more or less consumption for a month.
To be honest, I’ve never used LPG myself and would have used an electric cooker when induction cookers weren’t around yet. This is because I live in enclosed spaces and apartments and stuff, and LPG is dangerous for me because I don’t know how to replace tanks and deal with things like leaks. Gas leaks are mostly my fear in enclosed spaces, it can easily spread and start a fire if not dealt with right away.
So why is an induction cooker:
- The heat from the induction cooktop is concentrated only on the pan and nowhere else. No flames, no gas, and no leaks. It’s actually like a magnet that only heats up when two compatible metals are connected. Having said that, you’ll need to have induction pans ready (most crock pots will do, cast iron, aluminum won’t).
- Because the heat is evenly distributed, it cooks faster.
- Contrary to popular belief, using an induction cooktop is cheaper than an LPG or electric cooker. You can set the temperature, cooking time, and when it reaches the temperature you want, it will stay at that level and not go higher.
- You are less likely to catch fire or have a fire in your home because there are no gas leaks etc.
Bonus: The cooktop has a smooth surface and is easy to wipe clean.
There are many cheap induction cookers on the market. Some sell for less than PHP 1,500, and most of them have free induction cooktop compatible pots.
