NAfter hitting the previous high on Monday, the 7-day incidence of new crown infections across the country continued to rise. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Tuesday morning, citing data from health authorities, the value rose to 213.7 the day before, reaching 201.1, the highest level since the start of the German pandemic.
Saxony has the highest incidence at 483.7, followed by Thuringia (439.3) and Bavaria (348.0). The lowest incidence is Schleswig-Holstein (77.0), Bremen (87.8) and Lower Saxony (103.1).
The 7-day morbidity rate represents the number of new infections per 100,000 residents in 7 days. The high before November 7, 2021 reached 197.6 on December 22, 2020. However, the number of people vaccinated in Germany was much smaller at the time.
In the next few months, the incidence rate dropped again, falling below one hundred on May 14, 2021; on October 23, the value was in the triple-digit range for the first time, and has been steadily increasing since then.
According to the latest information from RKI, 21,832 new coronavirus infections and 169 new deaths related to the virus were recorded within 24 hours. A week ago, there were 10,813 infections and 81 deaths.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of registered infections in Germany has risen to 4,804,378, and the total number of recorded deaths related to corona infection has reached 96,727.
