17 Republican senators lined up to participate in infrastructure deals-RedState

In the past month or so, I have written several articles documenting the absurd path that a group of Republicans chose to negotiate a bipartisan infrastructure agreement.During that time, we saw Joe Biden Breaking the transaction multiple times, Nancy Pelosi Guaranteed not to pass, Senate Democrats announced that they will obtain everything they initially negotiated through a settlement plan (see “Republicans have another chance to stop being a stupid party, but will they accept it?“)

Now, I am not a political genius, but when someone “makes a deal” with you and then sharply tells you that they are going to deceive you, this is a good sign that they may go away. Republicans have had several opportunities to do this.

Did they do this? No, of course not. Instead, 17 Republicans lined up tonight to be screwed up, announcing and voting to promote an infrastructure agreement with Joe Biden.

It doesn’t even make sense. Not only is there no actual bill on paper, it means that these Republicans don’t even know what they’re voting to advance, except for some pending promises, and they’re far from the Democrats’ public announcement. Won’t pass transaction Did not get their 3.5 trillion dollar settlement.

What do Mickey McConnell, Mitt Romney, Rob Portman, Susan Collins, Richard Burr, and other politically flawed senators even hope to achieve here? If the deal passes and it now looks like it will pass, then they will not be able to prevent the passage of the mass settlement bill, at least if they persuade Democrats to do it for them. And when Kyrsten Sinema May draw a little blood In these negotiations, she will eventually still support much more spending than the Republicans want.

This is actually abandoning the farm for no reason. Joe Biden (Joe Biden) claimed to have achieved bipartisan achievements and put the upcoming inflation on the necks of Republicans, while still letting everything he negotiated disappear through reconciliation. Republicans still say, “Yes, this sounds great.” This is political madness. Biden has not taken any measures worthy of such cooperation from the Republicans, and Democrats spit on infrastructure issues under Trump’s leadership. But now they are eager to blow away what Biden thinks is the expenditure of a bill?

If there are some behind-the-scenes transactions to terminate the settlement agreement with Sinema and Joe Manchin, then this is the only way that makes sense. I think this is possible, but it is unlikely. Manchin has already expressed support for the reconciliation and only expressed some doubts about some climate change clauses. It is hard to imagine that he will eventually become a fortress.

Republicans had better have a good explanation for this, somehow I suspect they did it. This kind of thing was exactly what caused the base to revolt in 2016. The agency will walk straight back to the same minefield, which is unbelievable. In fact, maybe this is completely credible.
