Cork father and son died of murder and suicide, coroner rules | Ireland

The coroner’s investigation found that three members of an Irish family split by an inheritance dispute had died in an “incomprehensible” murder-suicide.

60-year-old Tadg O’Sullivan and his 23-year-old son Diarmuid shot and killed Diarmuid’s 26-year-old brother Mark, and then they aimed their rifles at themselves in a shocking case Ireland.

An investigation on Wednesday ruled on the illegal killing of Mark and the suicides of Taji and Dilmoud.

Coroner Michael Kennedy said that the bloodshed at Canturk Family Farm in County Cork last October ignored the reason: “an incomprehensible terrible tragedy.”

Kennedy said he usually expresses condolences to his immediate family, but since Taji’s wife and son’s mother Anne O’Sullivan died of cancer in April, no one has been alive. The former nurse is 61 years old.

Her final diagnosis in February 2020 seems to have triggered this tragedy.

Annie owns a 115-acre farm and plans to distribute it evenly among her sons. This angered her husband and young son, who believed that Diarmuid, who studied accounting and worked on the farm, should inherit most of the land.

The jury heard the angry argument, and Diarmuid threatened to leave a “trace of destruction”, “Raheen has no lights again”. Raheen is the name of the farm.

On October 10, trainee lawyer Mark sent a message to a friend saying that he was worried that his father and brother might kill him, and tried to make it look like suicide.

Earlier on October 25, Tadg and Diarmuid entered his bedroom and shot him with legally owned rifles. A pathologist said that Mark was hit in the head, chest and arms and was found lying on the floor.

The gunshot awakened Annie who ran into the room. She later said that both men looked at her, made a mocking comment, and then rushed into Mark’s bedroom.

The father and son changed the door locks, and Annie couldn’t drive away. She walked across the field to alert the neighbors.

When the police arrived at the farm, they found Mark’s body in the bedroom, and the bodies of his father and brother near the fairy tale fortress, which is a term for prehistoric residence. About 500 meters from the farmhouse.

The police believed that Diarmuid shot himself first, and then his father shot himself. Both died of brain trauma caused by gunshot wounds. Letters found in their pockets indicated that they had planned the violence a few days ago.

Annie tells her neighbors that she believes they murdered Mark to make her suffer. She died six months after the tragedy.
