The shipwreck paralyzed traffic on the Weser River

NAfter two barges collided on Weser near Balge in Nienburg, one of them sank. A spokesman for the Marine Police said that one of them came from “huge destruction.” How the accident happened on Sunday afternoon is still unclear. According to preliminary investigation results, no one was injured. However, the crew of the sunken ship had to be Firemen Rescued and taken ashore.

The ship is about 67 meters long and 8 meters wide, and contains tons of corn on board. Due to accidents, leakage of operating materials from the ship should be prevented by means of oil barriers on the water. Rescuers from the technical rescue organization protected the ship from drifting away. According to the Marine Police, the depth of the river in the area is between three and four meters. The second ship was also damaged in the accident. Shipping is prohibited on the Weser River in the area.

How long the lockdown will last remains unclear. According to a Marine Police spokesperson, a more detailed investigation of the shipwreck will not begin until Monday. Then, the diver should clarify, for example, how to remove the cargo from the ship and how to retrieve the ship.
