The Ulm prosecutor, Blaubeuren and the police announced on Saturday night that more than 270 men participated on Friday and Saturday. The other 60 people have already reported in advance because they were unable to attend that day. They were offered alternative appointments.
The Ulm public prosecutor and the police gave positive comments on the participation. According to the police, there are other appointments for men who have not yet reported the crime. The first results of the genetic test are expected to be announced within a few months.
Earlier, about 700 men from Blaubeuren and two suburbs were summoned to the city hall to participate in a large-scale genetic test. Investigators hope to narrow the scope of potential perpetrators who broke into and raped Blaubeuren at the end of last year.
In October and November 2020, a stranger tried to break into a residential building in Blaubeuren-Ghausen. In December, an apartment building in Blaubeuren was broken into. “In the apartment, a stranger attacked a woman. When she woke up, the perpetrator immediately fled,” the police and prosecutor’s office at the time said.
Investigators found genetic material from the same perpetrator at the crime scene. The police assumed that the stranger was between 41 and 52 years old at the time of the crime and could be found in Blaubeuren or the suburbs of Ghausen and Weiler.
