Review: What other functions does the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 have that the Instant Reading Thermometer does not? There are some things, and it’s cool. Right-handers and left-handers (hands and politics) should appreciate this feature. But is its main job done well?

What is it

ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 is a battery-powered, instant-reading probe cooking thermometer.

Design and function (from ChefsTemp website)

  • Super fast and accurate: It uses first-class thermocouple technology to provide accurate temperature readings immediately after you put the probe in. ±0.7F accuracy and 1-3 second read time.
  • Smart backlight: The backlit motion-sensing display automatically sleeps and wakes up, and the brightness is sufficient to cope with the darkest conditions.
  • 270 degree rotating probe: very suitable for left-handed cooks and reach awkward angles.
  • Automatically rotate the display screen: The built-in motion sensor can detect whether the device is upside down and rotate the display screen accordingly. This is a simple solution for angle inconvenience and left-handers.
  • Action activates the wake-up mode: Pick up your Finaltouch X10, it will turn on immediately, put it down to activate the power-saving sleep mode.
  • IP67 waterproof: It has an IP67 waterproof rating, which means it can withstand up to 1 meter of water.
  • Magnetic backing: You can attach the Finaltouch X10 cooking thermometer to any metal surface.

Installation and setup

The battery in X10 is installed. I only need to open the probe for a few degrees and it will show the temperature on the display.

Test and observe

X10 passed the ice cement slurry test perfectly. If you want to test your own device, a glass of ice water or boiling water will show a slight temperature change, but if you rotate the probe, it will show the appropriate average reading.

Finaltouch X10 has a certainty of readings that I like. I checked another thermometer that could not confirm the temperature reading. It will swing back and forth between 5-15 degrees, so I can’t tell which number the actual temperature is.

It’s not that the thermometer should click on a number and keep it there (you can use the “Hold” button on the X10 if you want), but I have a certain impression of how the X10 is displayed.

I use the Philharmonic to make coffee at a lower water temperature than most coffee machines use. (This makes the taste less harsh.) I have been using X10 for dozens of days and know when our hot water pot is close to 180 degrees. X10 has always been reliable.

what do I like

  • Use good ol’, easy to find, AAA batteries.
  • The battery door is screwed in. This makes the device feel sturdy. I don’t want to change the battery frequently.
  • Very obvious backlight reading for all light conditions.
  • Unique display rotation, easy to read in any thermometer position

What will i change

  • It’s nothing, I don’t write often.

Final thoughts

The ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 cooking thermometer worked as designed in all my use for more than 4 weeks. It will be the janitor of my kitchen. I will call it “highly recommended”.
