EU and AstraZeneca end vaccine delivery dispute

DThe European Union (EU) has reached an out-of-court settlement with AstraZeneca over the non-delivery of the coronavirus vaccine. The European Commission said in Brussels on Friday that it expects the British-Swedish company to deliver a total of 135 million doses of vaccine in the second half of 2021. It is said that by the end of March 2022, AstraZeneca has delivered all the 300 million cans agreed in the contract.

As far as production issues are concerned, the number of vaccines AstraZeneca has delivered to the EU so far is significantly less than the contractually agreed number. The committee, which has negotiated supply contracts with vaccine manufacturers on behalf of member states, took legal action in the spring. The company itself denied that it had violated the contract signed with the European Union.

AstraZeneca also confirmed the agreement reached now in a statement. Both parties stated that the legal dispute was therefore shelved.
