The prosecutor assigned to the Matt Gates case

Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz was involved in statutory rape for his relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Now there are two things to worry about: Prosecutors assigned by the Department of Justice to handle their cases.

Prosecutors in Washington have been investigating the Florida case since at least July. One prosecutor has expertise in child exploitation crimes and the other is a senior official in the DOJ Public Integrity Section. The source confirmed to ABC News that in recent months, they have joined a team in Florida that has been investigating whether Gaetz’s provision of goods or payment in exchange for sex to a 17-year-old girl violated federal law. The New York Times first reported the news of the new prosecutor. Gaetz has not been charged with a crime and has denied any wrongdoing.

Legal experts said that this is not an implied legal incident that the news media tends to over-hype. This is evidence of serious work in criminal proceedings against Gaetz.
