I think I will be a bad progressivist because I just don’t believe their argument that somehow the rich are evil.
In my opinion, people like Elon Musk both create what people want and provide jobs. They do some useful things-not only for themselves but also for society. It seems logical to encourage this, so it will be more, not punish it, so it will be less, and everyone can be equally poor in the socialist system.
But for people on the left—such as Millionaire Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)—billionaires are evil in nature and are often used as the focus of anger. “They”-billionaires-are the source of all the suffering of the working class. If they have a lot and you have less, it must be because they somehow took it from you (even if it makes no sense at all).
Bernie made a typical rant on this topic on Twitter, asking the rich to “pay the tax they deserve.”
