North showroom Denmark After six customers and about two dozen employees were trapped by a blizzard and forced to spend the night in the store, it turned into a spacious bedroom.
When the department store in Aalborg closed on Wednesday night, snow fell as high as 30 cm (12 inches), trapping customers and employees.
“We sleep in the furniture exhibition and showroom on the first floor, where there are beds, mattresses and sofa beds,” store manager Peter Elmose told Ekstra Bladet tabloid. People can “pick the exact bed they have always wanted to try.”
Elmos said that they watched TV and ate all night, adding that “very smoothly. It was a good night. It was all fun.”
The Danish public broadcaster DR says people work in the toy store next door Ikea Overnight in the department store.
“It’s better than sleeping in a car. Michelle Barrett, an employee of the toy store, told DR.
“We just laughed at this situation because we might not experience it again,” Barrett added.
