follow me FRITZ! Box 4060 Router Review. I also received a FRITZ!Repeater 6000, allowing me to upgrade the router to a full-fledged tri-band WiFi 6 mesh system.

FRITZ!Repeater 6000 vs 1200 AX Comparison
If you have a WiFi 6 FRITZ!Box, then you need to pair it with a WiFi 6 repeater. This leaves you with only two options, the 6000 or 1200 AX.
The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 has a significantly better tri-band design and dual Ethernet ports, one of which is 2.5GbE.
The FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX is a dual-band with a single Gigabit port. This way, it will share the 5Ghz band for backhaul, resulting in about 50% signal loss.
The FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX is even more affordable at just €83.90. So this would make it a good option for extending WiFi to less critical parts of the home. The FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX is also designed to be very compact and therefore more self-contained.
compatibility
The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is compatible with all routers and can be used as a repeater without the need for a FRITZ!Box router.
I personally recommend against using repeaters of any kind, regardless of the brand. They reduce performance and you usually have to use a different SSID for WiFi.
If you are using this as a repeater on a router of a different brand I would assume 2nd The 5Ghz WiFi band cannot reach its full potential. So you’re going to spend a lot of money on something you don’t take full advantage of.
The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 works best with the FRITZ!Box 4060, a tri-band WiFi 6 router. This would allow one of the 5Ghz bands to be used as backhaul, increasing overall throughput. This is how I tested the FRITZ!Repeater 6000.
set up
Pairing the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 with the FRITZ!Box 4060 couldn’t be easier. Power on, then press the connect button on the front of the repeater, then press the connect button on the front of the FRITZ!Box. The repeater will take the router’s WiFi settings and the systems should work together seamlessly, allowing you to roam around your home without any noticeable disconnects as your client device switches between the router and the repeater connect.
Wireless backhaul performance
Wireless backhaul performance is excellent. The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is in my front room, it’s one floor and two rooms.
In this position, I was able to achieve a throughput of 743Mbit/s. I hit 872 Mbits/sec when connected directly to the router at close range, so the dedicated 5Ghz wireless backhaul didn’t cause a significant drop in speed.
Wired backhaul performance
If you can run ethernet to the repeater, you can improve performance and achieve speeds that match your router.
In my case, using WiFi 6, I achieved a throughput of 896Mbis/sec, which is a bit faster than what I get from the router.
Price and Alternatives
The FRITZ!Repeater 6000 is currently available on Amazon UK for around £240 or Amazon Germany 210 euros.
I’m guessing the Amazon UK listing will still come with an EU plug, so you might as well buy it from Germany.
The dual-band FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX is only 83.90 euros.
Older WiFi 5 FRITZ! Repeater 3000 Priced at 115.99 euros.
I think the pricing is a bit high, but if you look at the competing brands, it’s reasonably priced.
The Netgear RBS750 additional satellite has an MSRP of £250 and is priced at £210. Alternatively, the flagship RBS850 is £400.

The main caveat here is that you can get a two-pack of the RBK752 for £330, or a three-pack of the RBK753 for £470 for a little less.

I am probably more impressed with the FRITZ!Repeater 6000 than I am with the router itself.
Setup is simple, and it’s easy to use it with wired backhaul if you want the best performance possible.
The dedicated 5Ghz mesh band appears to have excellent range, which allows the repeater to get better results than many other tri-band systems.
Pricing isn’t bad either, and it’s on par with additional satellites from competing providers. The total cost of the router and repeater is around €430 or £360, which is again on par with other providers.
