review – Spring is here and my wife and I are in full outdoor mode. This means landscaping, growing vegetables and flowers etc. and adding lights to our outdoor spaces. Most of the lights needed for the front of the house are in place, but I’m looking to install more lights on my deck and eventually around the backyard. Now I’m adding this XMCOSY+ Outdoor 98ft Smart LED Dimmable Warm White String Light with WiFi Control.

What is it?

XMCOSY+ Outdoor 98ft Smart LED Dimmable Warm White String Lights with WiFi Control can be controlled via an app or via voice assistance such as Alexa. It’s expandable and comes with durable bulbs to withstand the outdoor elements.

what’s in the box

1 x XMCOSY+ Outdoor String Light
1 extra bulb
1 x User Manual

Design and Features

feature

  • Dimming and application control – XMcosy white outdoor light string can adjust brightness through XMcosy App, built-in 4 scenes and custom scenes with adjustable breathing and flickering effects. Patio lights even feature timers, schedules, and automation.
  • voice control- The XMcosy smart string lights work with Alexa and other smart voice assistants without the need for a separate remote. The fully intelligent outdoor garden light.
  • Expandable and replaceable – XMcosy Outdoor Garden Lights are able to expand multiple light strings within 1 adapter to meet the needs of different spaces. With 30 replaceable bulbs plus 2 spare bulbs, you can easily host any event without worry.
  • ETL Listed Commercial Grade – Made of PC harmless material, 12V DC output, ETL certified to ensure user safety. IP65 waterproof, weatherproof and shatterproof design makes LED garden light resistant to harsh weather.
  • Durable and energy efficient – The XMcosy outdoor garden light uses replaceable S14 Edison bulbs. The dual filament design makes it brighter than regular LED and incandescent bulbs, but is more energy efficient and lasts 35 times longer than incandescent bulbs.

The lights are connected to each other by well-insulated wires. The bulbs are clear and relatively small. At the beginning of the string of lights, there is a power adapter with a control button, and at the end of the string of lights, there is a plug that allows you to daisy-chain another string of lights.

Performance

outside the box. I had to enlist the help of two other people to unravel this long string of lights. Once we were able to do that, I figured out my layouts and started hanging them.

When I’m done hanging up the lights. I connected them to the power plug on the deck, then downloaded the app and followed the instructions to connect the lights to the app. This is straightforward. The app offers pre-programmed scenes as well as DIY scene options. Since these lights are only warm, the scene options are related to the level of lighting/brightness/warmth. The app also allows you to turn on/off, set timers and schedule on/off. You can automate these functions and use Alexa or other voice assistants to control them. I have Alexa and it works great.

The control adapter for the AC end of the string is the AC adapter plus control buttons. This button is used to turn on WiFi mode and control the lights manually.

The photo below shows the lights on my rear deck at night:

Overall, it’s a nice set of lights, and the WiFi capabilities as well as the automation really allow you to integrate them into your everyday lighting scenes. The hookup is well made, the bulbs seem to break easily right now, and IMHO will likely get through winters and storms. The light they provide really adds warmth to the surroundings.

what do I like

  • Quality of wires and bulbs
  • control options
  • light and shadow it provides
  • App and Alexa control
  • String length
  • The ability to daisy chain
  • DIY scene function

what would i change

  • The way it comes bundled in the box.wire tangle

final thoughts

I love the XMCOSY+ LED string lights, and I can see myself buying additional strings to daisy chain or use independently in other areas of my backyard. The bulbs are well made and don’t break as easily as traditional bulbs. Built-in scenes and the ability to create your own are nice.
