Flexispot Comhar EG8 Standing Desk Review Rating

generalize

This is a great all-in-one sit-stand desk that’s easy to assemble and has great handy USB ports and drawers.

advantage

  • Well made and sturdy
  • very easy to set up
  • useful USB port
  • drawer

shortcoming

  • Built-in cable management bracket available
  • One Size – Standard 120cmx60cm

Flexispot is one of the most recognized names in the electric desk lift business.I reviewed it before Flexispot Electric E5 and some more quirky products like table bike and exercise chair.

This time around I’ve been looking at the Comhar EG8, a fancier all-in-one desk with either a wooden top or black glass, with slim drawers and a USB charging port.

Features/Specifications

  • All-in-one electric sit-stand desk with glass top and drawers
  • 2 USB-A charging ports
  • 1 USB-C charging port
  • DC5V/2.4A (12W) USB output
  • 72-121cm (including desktop) height adjustment
  • 25mm/sec lifting speed
  • 4 memory presets
  • Weight 50kg
  • 120x60x6.5cm size

set up

It’s very easy to set up, much easier than the Flexispot Electric E5 I reviewed earlier.

You basically have the table top, frame and feet. The table top is attached to the frame with eight bolts, with four bolts per foot.

Taking apart two separate boxes may take longer than putting the cables together.

All electronics are pre-installed. You just connect the cables from the motor to the controls on the table.

This is a heavy table, so if you’re not particularly strong, you may need someone to help you flip the table upright after you’ve finished assembling it.

Most of the cables are pre-wired for you; however, there are no other built-in wiring solutions for the desk itself. In the installation package, you get two extra adhesive cable clips for some basic cable organization.

is using

As a messy person, I like to use drawers to hide all the crap I lie. This drawer is shallow, so your storage is limited, but it’s useful for all the cables and gadgets that inevitably litter my desk.

Then you have three charging ports. It only has 12W output, but it’s a handy feature and I prefer slow charging unless in a hurry. I’ll never have too many USB ports. I always need to charge some wearable, phone or random smart home device.

It doesn’t have wireless charging, but you can easily get a small use cable and wireless charging matte and make it really neat.

The table itself is great. Both the frame and table top use metal construction, so it feels very solid.

Glass is not my first choice for tabletops, I usually go for wood, there is also a wood option with a white frame. I absolutely love it though, it’s easier to clean, more scratch resistant and looks nice and modern. One problem with glass is that it’s not compatible with monitor arms.

Height adjustment is excellent; it’s smooth and quiet. My monitor doesn’t wobble or anything like that when I adjust the height, and it can also hold 50kg, which I think is more than enough for most people.

You can then save up to 4 heights, which may allow two people to have their own sit-stand height presets.

The 120cm x 60cm surface area makes it a standard size desk. I personally prefer something bigger because I have multiple monitors, but it fits perfectly in a single-monitor or even dual-monitor setup. If you need something bigger, you’ll want a Flexispot desk with multiple desktop options.

Price and Alternatives

Comhar EG8 has a suggested retail price of £449.99, but a £100 discount code is available until the 1ststone June [APEG8].

Buy from FlexiSpot

This is also available on Amazon for £350.

There’s a variant with a wooden top and white stand for £389.99, but no discount code is available.

If you want a roomier drawer, go for the Esben EHD2, £499.99

Many other options don’t have a standard desktop. You can buy frames for as low as £180 MSRP, but desktops can range from £80 to £140, depending on size and shape.

There are several similar desks on Amazon. The Allcam ED20 is slightly cheaper, around £335, and the Daytona Living table is £420, but also has wireless charging.

overall

This is an excellent all-in-one sit-stand desk. I like the premium look and feel of it, and it’s so easy to set up.

The combination of drawers and built-in USB ports reduces desk clutter, giving you a clean, minimal look (if you’re less cluttered than me). I think this is especially appealing to anyone who works from home and has a desk in a living area rather than a dedicated office.
