review – I’ve been working on a solution for the past few months to create backup power for my home studio and eventually take it completely off the grid. My design includes several power stations with a minimum power output capacity of 2000 watts and enough AC and USB ports for my devices. I also need them to be able to charge via solar panels. This LEOCH portable power station seems to meet my design specifications. let’s see! !

Specification
this shell power plant Made of plastic/ABS with ventilation holes front and rear. On the front, there is the LED screen, the power button and all the power/charging ports. On the back, there are AC ports, AC wall charger ports, solar panel ports, and fuses. There are 2 wheels at the bottom of the rear, and a storage compartment for cables and manuals on the top.
Performance
The power cord is nicely stored on top of the LEOCH portable power station. This is a great feature as I sometimes have issues finding the correct power cord for my device. (I have a lot of gear and a lot of power cords). Once this power station is plugged in, it starts charging.
When I received the unit, it was almost fully charged, so as of now, I don’t know how long it will take to charge from zero. A fantastic feature is the ability to use 3 inputs simultaneously (AC power cord, AC wall charger, solar panel) to charge the LEOCH portable power station, making the charging time from empty to full in about 2.5 hours (according to Leoch).
The LED screen is bright and clear, and there are power buttons for every device connection. There’s even an internal red LED inside the case. On the back of the unit, there are 2 fans, which are mandatory given the size of this behemoth. I started using Atomos recorders, cameras, video switchers, broadcast boards and laptops. It treats them like they’re not even connected. No pressure at all. It’s a bit difficult to really stress this power station with heavy equipment that requires a lot of power, because it’s heavy and big and lugging around.
When charging/powered, the unit has LED lights on both sides for a nice light effect, which Leoch calls a breathing light. These lights can be turned off if desired. Here is an example:
Since I plan to eventually power everything in my home studio from a 2 x 2000W power station, I tested it by connecting everything I see in the video below. As you will see, I also hooked up my coffee maker, which I do because this device has an extra brew control that requires a lot of power as it goes through its various stages. With the studio equipment connected, the load on the power station is minimal. As soon as I connected the coffee maker, there was a surge of about 1030 watts. The power station handled it with ease. Overall, the LEOCH portable power station is a great power station for my planned off grid studio. One might wonder why I chose to do this, so let me explain briefly. While I have a home solar system with battery backup, the automatic transfer still causes some of my equipment to fail when the power goes out. This happened a few times while I was recording a podcast, and in addition to causing some devices to reboot, it also disconnected my incoming guests. So, I decided that when I was recording, I would be doing it through two 2000 watt power stations, especially during hurricane season. To fulfill my dream, Leoch has committed to send two solar panels that I will review and will make it a “true” off grid system. This power station provides almost every type of port I need and multiple AC outlets. It works for me. I would test Leoch with more equipment if I could. It’s very capable, but it’s really heavy. final thoughts
In short, the LEOCH portable power station is a beast in size, weight and power. It’s considered mobile because it has wheels, but it’s not a device you’d take to the beach. However, you can use it to power an entire RV or in my case an entire mini TV studio. If you make a mistake while rolling and drop it on your foot, you could be a visitor to some emergency room. It has a sufficient number and variety of ports, and while I have yet to get its solar panel, doing so would take my entire studio off the grid. Aside from the serious weight and size challenges, I give it a very good performance and two thumbs up!
