Visit Boracay + 5 new things to do in the pandemic era

Boracay had been closed to tourists before the pandemic and then again during the pandemic lockdown. The last time I was there was in 2016 A lot has changed in Boracay in 2022. I was there with my jowa for his birthday holiday in september this year.

So what has changed in Boracay in 2022?

Crystal Kayak

This is something new in Boracay and everyone has to do it, otherwise the trip to Boracay doesn’t happen. Crystal kayaks can be rented for PHP 700 per hour and include a local kayaker who can and will take videos and photos of you to your heart’s content. Your local kayaker knows all the angles and will show you how to get the best photos. He will be very patient and friendly, so don’t forget to tip.

But jowa and I didn’t find a local kayaker, we had our own boat, and we took videos and photos of each other by ourselves. But I think we paid for two boats. It’s ok, we had a great time.

paddle boarding

This is also a new attraction in Boracay where you can go boating on the sea. You can go with a local paddler or do it yourself. They’ll help you, tell you what to do, or if you’re stubborn, figure it out yourself! Kayaking and paddle boarding come with free life jackets. The price of the paddle board is Php500 for 30 minutes.

Fast food and chain restaurants abound

In 2016, the only food chain I can remember was Andoks, but now we find KFC, Jollibee, McDonalds, Mang Inasal and even Starbucks!

more beach areas

They made the shoreline/sand area (where you can see Willy’s rock) wider and there are several resorts at station 1 that look deserted or closed.

pick up girls

This is the first time I saw a lot of girls (pro atitutes working girls, female or trans) in Boracay. Walk out of your resort around 9pm and walk through station 2 and you’ll find lots of working girls waiting and towing customers. Andaminila promises! ng epic along the area!

A lot has changed in Boracay during the pandemic, and despite this, there are still plenty of tourists. I just hope they continue to do a good job in protecting the environment.
