This week may see the end of an abused law that attempts to intimidate the citizens of Michigan to enforce the wishes of a somewhat overzealous politician. I was very friendly in that assessment.
I wrote an article last week about how the Michigan Senate voted to cancel the law that Governor Whitmer used to block the entire Michigan state last year. She was not able to do this until the Michigan Supreme Court ruled in October that she needed to check with the legislature every 28 days.

The Republican-controlled Senate voted according to a partisan line, approved by a vote of 20 to 15, and now heads to the Michigan House of Representatives for approval. Once (if) the Michigan House of Representatives approves the repeal of the 1945 Governor’s Emergency Powers, it will be officially cancelled.
Whitmer will not be able to use the law in the way she does for the remainder of her term-and any governor after her. The law requires the Governor to obtain the approval of the legislature after 28 days to continue any state of emergency. Instead, the governor decided to cancel the previous order and then issue a new order for 28 days.
Unlock Michigan tried to obtain enough signatures to submit the proposal to the legislature and have them delete it without any comment from Whitmer, as Mr. Ventimiglia said above. This is a clear example of what actions can be taken when any politician crosses the line and the people participate in the control of elected officials.
According to the official statement of the Michigan House of Representatives schedule, Another chamber of commerce will meet on Wednesday, July 21. What we need to do now is to get the House of Representatives to vote in favor of the petition submitted to them from Unlock Michigan by a simple majority. The Senate has approved it, and the governor will have no opinion or veto the measure.

*The whole process took more than a year. However, the people at Unlock Michigan must organize and plan how to do this.They must draft acceptable languages, collect 500,000 Sign it and work with the Secretary of State to approve them. Then let the Canvas Committee approve the measure, which was finally resolved in court by the Michigan Supreme Court earlier this month. This is not a trivial matter, and if it doesn’t fit the time frame how fast you should be, it’s too bad. You may not (don’t) understand how the whole process works.
*The Michigan Supreme Court did tell the governor in October 2020 that she was using [EmergencyPowersoftheGovernor’sActof1945[1945年州長法案的緊急權力 Wrongly, she needs to stop. She then continued to abuse MDHHS to enforce her drastic measures. This does not mean that once the Supreme Court makes a ruling, the petition to unlock Michigan that started before the October ruling should be cancelled. They started this process, and now we are about to remove an obsolete law from the book, which is good for the future development of Michigan citizens.
This is a positive step. Although the finish line is in sight, the finish line has not been crossed yet. Contact your state representative and let them know that you want them to vote for the measures approved by the Senate last Thursday. Once this becomes law, groups like Unlock Michigan may continue to resolve the governor’s use of MDHHS, as Whitmer did after October.
As this battle has shown, the road is long, but the end result is worth it.
