DThe Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard has passed away. The Berlingske newspaper quoted his family as saying that he “died peacefully after a long illness.” Westgarde was 86 years old.
His suggestion that he can end his life “peacefully” is particularly important. Because Kurt Westgard has lived under the protection of Danish agents for fifteen years. He was assassinated twice and nearly escaped the second time, when one of the Somali asylum seekers entered his home with an axe.
Westgard paid a high personal price for freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and cartoons. He lost the right to move freely. Islamists are offering a seven-figure reward for his murder, because in September 2005, the Jyllands-Posten launched an action around the prophet Mohammed and extremist distortion of Islam. He is a 12 cartoonist one. What followed was the so-called “cartoon battle”, violent riots occurred in Islamic countries, and the death toll was as high as 150 people. Responsible for this is a group of Danish imams and Islamists who incited the riots. Not the cartoonist Westgard. As he said later, he “only did his job.” But today it seems that some people have forgotten this.

How did the “protest” happen

When Chief Mohammed Sajid Tantawi, a senior scholar at Al-Azhar University, described the Jutland Post package and the cartoon contained in it as a mockery of Islam, the Islamists got what they wanted thing.
