Pensions for long-term insured persons have increased significantly

DOver the past ten years, long-term insured persons’ pensions have increased by one-third. As Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) cites data from German pension insurance, in 2020, the average pension for people who have been insured for at least 35 years and who have just retired is 1,290 Euros, which is 34% higher than a decade ago.

In the west, an increase of 29% was reported, and in the east it even increased by 50%. “This positive development strengthens the statutory pension as the core pillar of German pension insurance,” a spokesperson for German pension insurance told RND. According to pension insurance, the most important reason for the increase is the increase in pensions in recent years.

More new retirees previously employed long-term

At the same time, the proportion of pensioners with at least 35 years of insurance has increased. In 2010, 65% of new entrants had a corresponding insurance period. Ten years later, this proportion was 72%. According to the report, this is mainly due to the fact that West German women have more permanent employment than before.
