IAccording to media reports, three men were arrested in Norway and a large number of weapons were confiscated. As the public service broadcaster NRK reported on Tuesday about the police and Secret Service PST, investigators in this case assumed that the matter was related to the right-wing extremist environment. First, Romeriks Blad and Avisa Nordland newspapers reported that the police had been operating for some time.
The arrests took place in different parts of the country. In the apartment of a man in Bodø City, the police found six machine guns, ten rifles, five pistols and thousands of live ammunition. They are said to be older weapons, including some from wartime. The man is now being detained on suspicion of violating the gun law, and two others have been arrested, one from Lillestrom and the other from Hamar. A police spokesperson said on the radio that weapons were also found.
The purpose of these weapons is as unclear as the exact time of the arrest. The police suspected that this was connected to the network of people who bought and sold illegal weapons. The report did not mention the 10th anniversary of Thursday’s attack by the right-wing terrorist Anders Behring Breivik in the Oslo government area and Utøya, which killed 77 people.
