exist part 1 In this Mama Bear Recall series, I introduced the members of the Recall Gavin 2020 team who have played an important role in collecting signatures, ensuring they are reviewed, submitting them to 58 California county registration recorders, and getting Recall to get 2 million signatures. effect. It only takes 1,459 billion people to trigger a recall election, and these women (with the help of a few men) surpassed it.these are Their story.
exist part 2 In the series, Mother Bear warned that the fight to actually recall the vote must continue. They are trying to make people understand that it is a good thing that they signed the petition, but now they still need to vote “yes” to get Gavin Newson to be recalled. Mama Bears also discussed opposition tactics, murmurs and direct evidence of voter suppression and fraud, and how they tried to stop it.
We ended our long and informative conversation by talking about September 14: Special Recall Election Day. I want to know what they think the actual results might bring. If we win, what will Newsom look like if it is recalled?
More importantly, what happens if we lose and Newsom keeps his seat?
Mother Bear is cautiously optimistic that this battle will be won, and we will see the governor being recalled.
“I think it really comes down to Los Angeles County,” said Christine Abercrombie, executive secretary and chief supporter.
Orange County Coordinator Wendy Redlew Shrove agreed.
“I think so,” she said.
Abercrombie continued,
“You know, Los Angeles County will become the hub. All eyes are on Los Angeles County—like, on them. I know our registrar in Sacramento is very neutral. We can abandon San Francisco.”
Although more than 11,000 people in San Francisco County signed the recall petition (0ver 9,000 people were verified), Abercrombie does not want these voters to conclude a deal with “yes” at the time of the recall.
“Interesting story,” Abercrombie interjected.
“In the early days, if we receive a petition from San Francisco County, the staff on Thursday night will drink tequila. We will “cheer” for the unicorns!”
The entire recall is unprecedented, so the unicorn in San Francisco may rise again and surprise Abercrombie and others.
Central San Joaquin Valley Regional Manager Ellen Woitalla put it best,
“Regardless of whether Gavin was removed on October 1, we are all gunshots heard all over the world. In the 55 years I lived here, we did something that we had never done in California-mine A lifetime. We came forward,” she said.
These mother bears dared to challenge the status quo and screamed corruption. In fact, if it were not for the recall, the world (not just California) would know Corrupt this governor is? suspect. The collection of signatures and the introduction of the recall into the vote gave people the necessary attention to the depth of corruption and why the governor needed to step down.
Abercrombie agrees:
“We want it. I think that’s what every lady means-I just represent myself, hope they-say this That Is our main goal. Just to put a huge wrench in this system. Not only do we have to accept this tyranny, we will not endure this tyranny either. We absolutely don’t have it, no matter what we need, what to do on the street, do you know? “
Heather Keller, Regional Manager for Northern California, interjected,
“Yes, hit the corner.”
Abercrombie replied
“We are doing it.”
Ventura County Coordinator Shellie Balsz was excited about September 14, but also excited about the recall in her community.
“I think it will be the same thing. I have invested two years for this, but I am also continuing to conduct local recalls for the board of supervisors and others,” she said.
“So, I won’t stop anytime soon. The team we have locally is getting bigger and bigger. It’s great to watch.”
Another example of Gavin Newsom uniting Californians in a way he didn’t expect. The recall, the pandemic, and lockdown efforts have created more participating communities, who are regaining control of local governance.
For this, we want to thank Mother Bear.
Woitalla agreed with Balsz,
“We are loyal to all different communities. At present, there are recalls in large and small communities throughout the state.
“It’s not just about recalling Gavin. This triggered a revival of the government that took us back in our own community. I am fortunate to be part of these different movements in my county.
“So yes, of course I want him to go out.
“I mean, I have invested two years in this. I want to see this to the end. But I don’t think this is the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal is to make permanent changes, and I believe we have done it.”
Roxanna Maxam, Riverside County Coordinator interjected,
“I think this memory has awakened some of us all that we didn’t know we had. We are now exist. We are not silent. In Riverside County, we are preparing to attack and recall our board of directors. We don’t like what they do in our city, and we will let them be with those women I do remember Gavin. “
“Yes, we can do anything because we now know that we Can do anything! “
There are 16 days to go until September 14, and the optimism of these bear mothers has not diminished.
“I think we will win and it will be an overwhelming victory,” Woitalla said.
“I just think it will be a lot of “yes” votes. I think we are all waiting for the last minute so that they won’t have any advantage over us.”
“What am I thinking [that] People are thinking, but by reading people and data… we want to win. “
Abercrombie reflected on how it all started,
“It’s really amazing, even if we can get so many signatures.”
With the culmination of this recall campaign led by California citizens, Abercrombie’s message to organizations and candidates who are working hard, Republicans or Democrats, is simple:
“They really need to make way. Let your candidate look forward and do whatever you want, but don’t get in the way.”
Vojtala agreed.
“At this point, I’m worried. When you talk about the organization joining at the last minute and trying to hijack blood, sweat, sweat and tears, you know from everyone across the state.”
Confession interjected,
“What worries me is that they are not only hijacking it, but threatening it,” she warned.
“I know everyone has a different person. If we win, they might want to replace Newsom. Gavin Newsom, he said outside that you don’t want your state to be run by a far-right Fox News guy. I always Try to tell Republicans, please focus on Reasons for recalling Gavin. “
“This state is not ready to push it that far, we just need to solve problem 1. Question 1,This is the most important.
“We need those moderate Democrats, we need those independent votes. We have to get these votes, otherwise this will not happen.”
Yesterday, my husband and I drove home from Kevin Kiley’s campaign and ran into the caravan that recalled Gavin Newsom. All cars are covered with recalled flags, American flags, stickers, banners and artwork. They drove safely and neatly, and received horns and cheers from other drivers, including us.
The momentum and enthusiasm I saw Gavin Newson recalled was the highest level I have ever seen. When Gray Davis was recalled in 2003, I was old enough, but in terms of the excitement of change, grassroots organizations, and most importantly individual citizen participation, it was a far cry from the current recall.
What makes me encouraged is that voters are not only motivated, but they also understand the situation. They are going to the candidate website; they are watching Kevin Paffrath’s video and are following the debate. They will go to the assembly and share research and information about the candidate for question 2 with friends and family so that they can have the greatest impact on the “yes” of question 1.
Mama Bears has devoted nearly two years and a lot of time, energy, sacrifice and sweat to ensure that we can solve problem 1: Should Gavin Newson be recalled? Getting a “yes” of 50 + 1 on this issue is critical to seeing the state’s transformation.
Although their hard work will never be in vain, seeing the governor’s removal will be an unprecedented victory and a vane for changes in the governance of the entire country (not just California).
