The 40-year-old Duchess sued the publisher of the Sunday Mail of United Press Limited (ANL) because five articles copied parts of a “personal and private” letter sent to her 77-year-old father Thomas Markle in August 2018 content.
The court learned this week that Meghan and Harry’s former communications secretary, Jason Knauf, provided information to the authors of Omid Scoby and Caroline Durand’s “Search for Freedom.”
In the witness statement, Mr. Knauf said that the book was a “routine discussion” and that “discussed directly with the Duchess in person and via email on many occasions”.
Mr. Knauf claimed that Meghan said she would call her father “dad” because if it was leaked, it would “touch people’s hearts”.
When asked about these revelations, Mr. Markle told GB News: “The truth is finally revealed.
“Thank God for giving Jason Knauf, I am happy to invite him over and take him to Sizzler-we will have steak and a delicious small dinner together.
“Of course he puts things at the right angle.”
In the witness statement released on Wednesday, Megan apologized for misleading the court on whether Mr. Knauf provided information to Mr. Scoby or Ms. Durand.
She said: “I admit that Mr. Knauf did provide some information to the author of this book, and he did so to the best of my knowledge, and he planned to meet with the author as a communications secretary.
“I don’t know the scope of the information he shared.
“When I approved the paragraph… I didn’t see the benefits of these emails, and I apologized to the court because I didn’t remember these exchanges at the time.”
