After a diver lost her husband’s wedding ring in the lake on their wedding day, she said she was “ecstatic.”
22-year-old newlyweds Annabelle Balchin described the Lake District diver volunteer Angus Hosking (Angus Hosking) retrieved from Lake Windermere in Cumbria with this engraved The moment of a platinum ring with couple initials.
On Thursday, Mrs. Balchin, a customer service consultant at NFU Mutual, married 30-year-old canal boat builder Mick Balchin at the Town Head Estate in Windermere.
In the heat wave that day, they and the wedding guests took a dip in the lake from the private jetty of the manor.
Call from her honeymoon Wales Mrs. Balchin said: “The temperature on Thursday was 33 degrees Celsius, so we and all our guests decided to take a bath at night.
“We all jumped off the dock, and my husband did not take off his wedding ring.
“When he jumped in, it immediately slid down-when he jumped off the dock, he felt it slid down.”
The next morning, the couple called the lake divers, and when Mr. Hoskin retrieved the ring “within a few minutes,” they “sighed with relief.”
“They found it less than five minutes after they got into the water. We were absolutely ecstatic,” said Mrs. Balchin from Seidberg, Cumbria.
“We try not to panic too much, but it cost us a lot of money. We carved it down. This is the emotional value that comes with it.
“We just took an oath and exchanged rings, so we were really panicked, so it was a huge relief.”
Ms. Balchin said that they paid Mr. Hosking, but he would only deposit the donation into the gofundme account as a sign of gratitude.
