- dry. Pat the wings with a paper towel to dry. This is another key trick to make them crispy!
- season. In a large bowl, stir the wings with baking powder, sea salt and black pepper.
- Fry with low temperature air. Put the single layer of wings into the air fryer basket. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 15 minutes at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Turn over and air blow at high temperature. Flip the wings and raise the temperature to 430 degrees Fahrenheit. Air fry until the inside of the wings is cooked through and the outside is crispy.

Tips for the best air fryer wings
- If you have time, let the wings reach room temperature. This is not required, but letting them sit for 20-30 minutes before cooking will help them cook more evenly.
- Dry the skin. Moisture is the enemy of crispy skin, so pat dry with a paper towel can help you get the maximum crispness.
- Use the correct salt ratio. A good rule of thumb for meat and poultry is to add one teaspoon of salt per pound of meat, but since chicken wings are mostly bones, only about 1/3 of their weight is actually meat. This air fryer chicken wings recipe is 2 pounds of wings and about 11 ounces of meat, which is why I used 3/4 teaspoon of sea salt. If you make larger or smaller batches, please adjust accordingly.
- Sprinkle baking powder on the skin. This is the main technique for extra crispy skin! Don’t skip it.
- If necessary, grease the air fryer. Mine is very non-sticky, but if you want, you can spray cooking spray or lightly brush with olive oil before adding wings to make it easier to clean up.
- Don’t squeeze in the basket of the air fryer. This ensures that air can flow through and make the skin brittle. It doesn’t matter if the wings touch slightly, but try not to let their entire sides touch. It is even better if you have the patience to keep them from touching each other at all.
- Start with low temperatures. First cook the wings at 250 degrees Fahrenheit to make the meat super juicy. In addition, if you cook frozen chicken wings in an air fryer, starting at a low temperature will help them cook more evenly.
- Turn over and heat to the maximum. Turning halfway also helps to cook evenly, and increasing heat is necessary to make the outer skin crispy.
- Check the internal temperature. The best way to know the wings are done is to use Meat thermometer Confirm that the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
