As various investigations into his mishandling of the Wuhan virus pandemic and numerous allegations of sexual harassment and abuse of power continue, Democrat Andrew Cuomo continues to behave badly.
The embattled Governor of New York made his first public appearance earlier this week. This is his first public appearance since he took office. Deposed The state attorney general’s office disputed the allegations of sexual misconduct on July 17.At a press conference on Monday, Cuomo Suggest The independent lawyers brought by the State Attorney General and Democrat Letitia James to the investigation have credibility and prejudice issues:
“I am concerned about the independence of reviewers,” Cuomo said. “Does this all happen in a political system? Yes, it is undeniable.”
When asked by reporters why he thought the investigators were biased, the governor said “Google” them.
“Then tell me what you saw,” he said.
One of the chief investigators and former Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Joon Kim, is a senior deputy to former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. The case overseen by Barara resulted in Cuomo’s former senior aide Joe Perkoko and other former colleagues of the governor being sent to federal prison.
Except for saying “Google” to them, Cuomo did not provide any evidence to support his statement, even though other reporters questioned it.
Watch:
Before Cuomo himself publicly criticized Jin Jun, Cuomo’s supporters began floating An unfounded rumor that Preet Bharara is considering challenging him in the 2022 governor race, and hints that his former senior deputy Kim is helping Bharara in this regard.
Cuomo’s lackeys also have Suggest James herself may be fishing for this job, she has never publicly stated this in any way.
Although it is not uncommon for government officials under investigation to claim that there is political motivation behind investigating their actions, what is unusual is that although James is a Democrat, and Cuomo seems to have no objection until this year, she will be angry with her. The resources of the office were concentrated on the then President Trump.
But now Cuomo is in the hot spot, the knife is out and is waging a war against James’ office because of Cuomo’s Guide her Things to do in February: Investigate. I guess he doesn’t believe in the process he told people to believe for months.
The allegations against Cuomo, coupled with the recent allegations of similar sexual misconduct by other very powerful Democrats in New York State, have raised a bigger problem, that is, “culture of indulgence” makes these people think they have the right to do something wrong. Things that have been agreed are closed with women. Jim Geraghty made one good idea About this in the corner:
Three consecutive New York State Attorneys [Eliot Spitzer, Eric Schneiderman, and Cuomo] Faced multiple allegations of sexual violence or sexual harassment of women. Some people may see this and wonder if there is a dangerous culture of indulgence surrounding powerful Democrats in New York State. Some people may even wonder whether so-called feminists, pro-choice and self-descriptive “support women” will make powerful Democratic men feel in office that they have the right to indulge their worst impulses when closing doors with women.
This “culture of indulgence” includes a submissive media that often opposes the misconduct of these powerful people, partly out of fear of retaliation (especially in Como case) But mainly—I doubt—because on the surface they support issues that the Democratic Party is close to and cherish.
But we are now in the #MeToo era, and the Democrats are no longer out of trouble. In my opinion, this is a strong signal that such a powerful person will operate on the premise that another cheek will be turned. These things are happening. Way out.
Anyway, let us hope so.
