Review – Portable chargers are getting smaller and smaller! I recently received one of them for review-Anker Nano II 65W GaN II PPS Fast Charger Adapter. it’s great! It is very small and can charge my Lenovo Yoga 730 laptop and my Pixel 2 XL phone, and its charging time is the same (or shorter) as their OEM chargers (only two hours per device). It charges our 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 much faster than the OEM USB-C charger and the 14 W iPhone 12. Basically, it charges all our laptops (Lenovo), tablets (iPad) and mobile phones (iPhone 12 and Pixel 2) XL) quickly and without any problems.

What is it?

Anker Nano II 65W GaN II PPS Quick Charger Adapter is a travel wall adapter with a USB-C power port, which can provide up to 65 W of power for your laptop, tablet and mobile phone. It uses gallium nitride semiconductor instead of silicon semiconductor to make the charger smaller, faster and more efficient.

Design and features

The dimensions of the Anker Nano II 65W GaN II PPS Quick Charger Adapter are 1.65″ x 1.42″ x 1.74″. It is made of matte gray plastic, with a silver surface (probably aluminum), and has a USB-C power supply port.

The bottom of the charger shows the specifications of the charger. It can provide up to 65 W total output. To increase portability, the prongs of the charger fold up when not in use.

Performance

The Anker Nano II 65 W USB-C charger provides 38-40 W of power to my laptop when charging, which is comparable to Lenovo’s OEM 65 W USB-C charger (38.2 W). When using the Anker wall charger to charge my laptop, it completed in about 1 hour and 50 minutes (from about 0% to 100%) without any problems.

The Anker charger also provides approximately 31 watts of power for our 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018, while its OEM charger provides 17 watts. The Anker charger charges our 7th generation iPad with approximately 11 W of power.

It charges the iPhone 12 with 14-19 watts of power.

Then I used the Anker charger to charge my Pixel 2 XL phone at a full speed of approximately 12 W. Charging takes about 2 hours.

Another great benefit of the small wall charger is that it will not block another outlet when plugged in!

There are some reviews on Amazon and Anker’s websites that their adapters are very hot. The Anker Nano II 65 W charger does get hot, but I don’t think it will get hot. It seems to be comparable to other wall chargers I have used.

what do I like

  • It charges all our devices (laptops, tablets and mobile phones)
  • When charging, it usually charges better than OEM chargers
  • It is very small and portable
  • Will not block other sockets when plugged in

What will i change

  • I would love to see the 100 W version!

Final thoughts

Anker Nano II 65W GaN II PPS fast charger adapter is a well-made USB-C PD travel wall charger with very compact size. It provides up to 65 W of power to the device, so I can charge my Lenovo Yoga 730 (38 W, charging time about 1 hour and 50 minutes) and Pixel 2 XL (12 W, charging time about 2 hours) at the same time. OEM USB- C Charger (38 W and 10 W respectively) time (or less). It also charges our 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 (31 watts), much faster than the OEM charger (17 watts) and the iPhone 12’s 14 watts.

It also has the added benefit of not blocking other sockets when plugged in. The Anker charger does get hot when charging the device, but it does not overheat in my opinion.

I like Anker Nano II 65W GaN II PPS fast charger adapter very much, I bought another one. None of my devices need to exceed 65 W, so this works for me; but if you need more power, then maybe Anker is developing a 100 W travel charger? That would be awesome!
