Review – I was recently approved to view the Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10 Gbps data hub.This center is right Anker PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB-C Ethernet Hub I reviewed it last year. It includes an HDMI port (4K@60Hz instead of 4K@30Hz), a 100 W USB-C Power Delivery (PD) pass-through charging port (instead of a 60 W Power Delivery charging port), two USB 3.0 ports, and an SD reader Card reader, a microSD card reader, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a USB-C 10 Gbps data port (the other Anker hub does not have this USB-C data port).
judgment? This hub works well on my Lenovo Yoga 730 13-inch, 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 and my Pixel 2 XL without any problems, but it’s just a bit expensive…

Design and features
The Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10 Gbps data hub is made of matte light gray aluminum on the top of the hub and matte dark gray polycarbonate on the bottom. It has a built-in 7.5-inch (191 mm) USB-C cable to connect to your device, and it feels as well made as my other Anker products.
One side of the hub contains an LED ring status light, an SD card reader, a microSD card reader (spring-loaded), and two USB 3.0 ports. When the LED is plugged into the device, it will emit dim white light.
The other side of the hub contains an HDMI port that can transmit 4K at 60Hz. This side of the hub also contains a USB-C 10Gbps data port and a USB-C 100 W PD pass-through charging port.The hub requires 15 W to operate, so it takes approximately 85 W power output To the device you are connected to.
The end of the hub contains a Gigabit Ethernet port and several connection LED status lights.
The bottom of the hub contains the device name and its model number (Anker A8383).
Performance
When testing the Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10 Gbps data hub, I tested each port at the same time, and they all worked well.
I connected a Lenovo Yoga 730 13-inch laptop to my LG TV and used it as an extended monitor for the laptop. I plug the 65 W wall charger into the USB-C PD pass-through charging port, use the Ethernet connection to search Amazon, edit Word and Excel files, and play music files and video file centers connected to all my media. I even use the USB wireless mouse without any problems (the USB mouse has some problems when connected to my previous Anker hub).
Then I used the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 test hub and plugged it into our LG TV using the HDMI port on the hub to mirror the iPad screen. I am able to use the USB-C PD pass-through charging port (using a 65 W wall charger) and access all media connected to the hub. I can even use a USB mouse.
On my Pixel 2 XL phone, I used a USB mouse and I was able to access all the media on the hub. Wow, yeah! The only ports that do not work on my phone are the Ethernet and HDMI ports.
The screenshot above shows the transfer speed when I copy a large file from my laptop to the following location:

Then I copied the same large file from each media device on the hub back to my laptop and got the transfer speed shown above.
Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10 Gbps data hub is almost perfect for me. It works on my laptop, mobile phone and iPad Pro. I have no problems when using it, and it only gets slightly hot when using it.
I reviewed one Satechi Type-C Multiport Adapter 4K with Ethernet V2 Adapter and Aukey Link PD Pro USB-C hub, But after posting these comments on Gadgeteer, I found that if my laptop is disconnected from the hub but the Ethernet cable is still plugged in, these two methods will occasionally shut down one of my mesh routers. Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10 Gbps data hub and Anker PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB-C Ethernet Hub (The other one I reviewed not long ago) works well for me without interrupting my home WiFi network.
what do I like
- It has an HDMI port (4K@60Hz), an SD card reader, a microSD card reader, a USB-C 100 W PD pass-through charging port (provides 85 W power when other ports are used), and a Gigabit Ethernet port , Two USB 3.0 ports and USB-C 10 Gbps data port!
- It works on my Lenovo Yoga 730 laptop, our 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018 (I can use all ports) and my Pixel 2 XL phone (all ports can be used except Ethernet and HDMI ports)
What will i change
- It might be nice to have a video USB-C port that can plug a USB-C portable monitor into my laptop
- A bit expensive
Final thoughts
Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10 Gbps data hub is almost perfect for me. It has all the ports I want: an HDMI port (4K@60Hz), an SD card reader, a microSD card reader, a USB-C 100 W PD pass-through charging port (provides 85 W power transmission when using other ports ) Port), a Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 ports and a USB-C 10Gbps data port (yay!!!). I have no problems at all when using the hub. I can use all the connections on the hub separately and simultaneously on my Lenovo Yoga 730.
In addition to being able to use it with my Lenovo Yoga 730 laptop, I was able to use it with our 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018, and it can even be used with my Pixel 2 XL phone! It’s a bit expensive, but it does a great job!
