“But it’s also focused on what you need to do.
“I know that at the most challenging moment, you have all made incredible efforts for this moment. I hope you can find the support and inspiration of the GB team environment for you.
“This is your Olympics. It will be different, but not in its importance to you. Taste it, and most importantly, enjoy it.”
Annie told the GB team that she looks forward to celebrating their achievements with them in the fall.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tokyo Olympics have been postponed for one year and are scheduled to open on July 23, when there will be more than 375 athletes from the British team preparing to compete.
Six British athletes were forced to quarantine after being deemed to have had close contact with a person who tested positive for the coronavirus after flying to Japan.
Annie has a long-term relationship with the Olympics.
She has been the chairman of the British Olympic Association and the British team since 1983, a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1988, and participated in London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
Annie won 24th in the individual competition in 1976, while the team won 9th.
Thirty-five years later, at the 2012 London Olympics, her daughter Zara Tindall won the silver medal in the triathlon team, and Annie presented her with the medal.
