The duo took part in the farce within minutes of Sunday night’s match against Brazil.The match between Argentina and Brazil in Sao Paulo was cancelled about 5 minutes later when Brazilian health authorities invaded the stadium and accused the Spurs and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez Violation of Covid-19 quarantine rules.
Allegedly, the trio and Emiliano Buendia of the Villa team who watched the game in the stands violated a rule that stipulates that travelers who have been to the UK in the past 14 days must be quarantined for 14 days when entering Brazil .
A statement issued by Argentina on Monday read: “The players Giovanni Loscelso and Cristian Romero were not affected in the game against Bolivia. They will return to their club.”
Los Celso and Romero, as well as Davidson Sanchez, who played for Colombia, are expected to train in Croatia for 10 days to avoid having to isolate them in a British hotel when they return.
Being released at this stage of the International Match Day, instead of participating in the Argentina vs. Bolivia match, means that the duo should be prepared to face Chelsea on September 19 if needed.
Both will miss this weekend’s game against Crystal Palace and next week’s Europa League match against Rennes.
